Land Rover Defender DM 1

Farmers lead hard lives. And so do their vehicles. We spent a week in the Lake District with one such farmer, photographed his long day and let him tell us in detail what it’s like being a sheep farmer on the fells. We then produced a mailing in diary format to demonstrate just how vital the Defender was to his job. Shot on film in black and white, it was then printed in five shades of black, or should I say black and four subtly different colours of grey; some warm grey, some colder in colour. Type was deliberately positioned, line by line, not quite straight to make it look like it had been put together on the farmhouse kitchen table. This is one of my favourite pieces of print work.
